В лучших традициях true school, бруклинский дуэт Cella Dwellas вашему вниманию. Вообще-то эти два эмси UG и Phantasm из района Flatbush, что в Бруклине, и их название Cella Dwellas в 2000 г. сократилось до The Dwellas. Но как ни крути оставили след в истории андеграунд хип-хопа. И так, кто же они…

Дуэт сформировался в начале 90-ых годов и уже к 1994 г. подписался на лейбл Loud Records, где издал свой первый сингл «Land Of The Lost». В следующем году Cella Dwellas принял участие в записи трэка «4 Da Mind» для альбома Masta Ace Incorporated, Sittin’ On Chrome. Также в 1995 г. дуэт выпустил два хитовых сингла «Good Dwellas» и «Perfect Match», которые стали первыми и последними их творениями которые вошли в чарты. Эти три сингла в 1996 г. вошли в их дебютный альбом Realms ‘N Reality. Релиз был очень даже успешным андеграунд проектом благодаря уникальной лирике и мрачным битам. Большинство трэков альбома сделал продюсер Nick Wiz плюс несколько битов от DJ Megahurtz, The Bluez Brothers и сами The Dwellas.

UG и Phantasm вернулись в 2000 г. под названием The Dwellas со своим вторым диском The Last Shall Be First (прямь как у Sunz Of Man), который вышел на том же Loud Records. Альбом содержал продакшн от того же Nick Wiz и плюс ещё более известные имена творителей саунда как Lardge Professor, Ayatollah и Rockwilder. На фичерингах участие приняли Lardge Professor, Inspectah Deck, Cocoa Brovaz и Organized Konfusion. Отзывы были хорошими, но альбом не получил должного внимания, и не попал, в отличие от певрого альбома, в соответствующие чарты. Хотя в All Music Guide писали, что The Dwellas стали на уровень выше. К сожалению после The Last Shall Be First они выпустили лишь один сингл «Who Killed The Hip Hop» в 2003 г. Ожидаем третьего альбома…

To show our appreciation for the positive feedback that we received after releasing Volume 1, we have decided to drop Volume 2 today. We hope that this release is received with the same amount of gratitude, as your feedback is our main motivation to continue putting the work in to make these releases possible.

With that being said, I will get right into what is included this time around. Looking at the track list, you will notice that this release does not contain the same amount of tracks, however, we are sure that you will all be pleased with what is here. One of the exclusives that we have added to this release is the GJ Remaster of Tyler the Creator’s “Sippin On Some Syrup Freestyle,” which was mixed with the original instrumental to improve the sound quality (which makes this the definitive version to have). Also, because of the Domo Genesis project dropping, we have included a few tracks from when he went by his Young Swag moniker. We’re sure that you’ll find those entertaining.
