Biography
Safura Alizadeh was born on the 20th of September 1992 in Baku. Safura’s father is an artist and her mother is a pianist and a fashion designer. Safura started singing when she turned three and at six appeared on the stage for the first time. Since then, she has almost been constantly involved in various music competitions held in Azerbaijan. Safura sang in the “Sharq ulduzlary” (Eastern Star) children’s band, musically directed by Vagif Garayzadeh and managed by Ellada Mammadova. Twice a year, Safura participated in musical performances on the big stages such as Heydar Aliyev’s Palace, the State Philharmonic Hall and the Opera and Ballet Theatre where she learned how to keep both feet on the floor. During this period, she also practiced gymnastics, participated in various competitions and was awarded the Third Degree Diploma. Safura started her education at the Choreography School, and when reached the 8th grade, was transferred to the school No. 23 in Baku. Safura graduated from the Music School in Violin, however always wanted to learn the saxophone which she managed to succeed in. Safura was a prize winner at 2006’s Jazz Festival. At the age of 16, she won the “Yeni Ulduz” (New Star) TV musical competition which is very popular in Azerbaijan. At the age of 17, Safura represented Azerbaijan at the “Eurovision-2010″ song contest with a song “Drip Drop” (in English) which caused unprecedented excitement when almost all media described her as a front-runner of “Eurovision 2010″ and published her photographs. At “Eurovision 2010″, Safura was led by a really talented team, including Rupert Wainwright (Director of a video clip “Drip Drop”).
Tanya Gill (stylist and fashion designer) – has cooperated with such popular celebrities as Ashton Kutcher, Hilary Swank, Jane Fonda, Julie Christie, Kate Winslet, Minnie Driver, Dame Helen. Johanna Ericsson (hair stylist, makeup artist) – has worked with Madonna. Aron Light (stylist, hairdressers) – has worked with Katy Perry. Jaquel Knight (stage manager, choreographer) – has worked with Beyonce and other popular celebrities. Andres Bagge (composer of the song Drip Drop) – has worked with Britney Spears, Madonna, Backstreet Boys, Celine Dion, Abba, Stefan Orn, Sandra Bjurman. At “Eurovision 2010″ song contest, Safura won the 5th place in the overall final table (final) as of May 29, 2010. Upon completion “Eurovision 2010″, a well known Swedish company immediately signed her. Safura has now moved to Sweden, where she released her debut album called “It’s my war”. During her stay, her second European video based on the song “March On” was produced. While working with the Swedish company, Safura participated in many concerts arranged in different countries including Sweden itself, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia, Tajikistan and Belarus.
Safura has composed a song “Paradise” which is presently under production. The song is based on lyrics from Nafa Aliyeva and Endri Sulaj. The video clip for this is currently being shot in Sweden.
At the moment, Safura is writing new songs for her third upcoming album.
