Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, Booba quickly got influenced by the US hip-hop scene at the end of the 1980s and beginning of the 1990s. With his pal Ali, also from Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine), they started the rap group Lunatic, under which name they recorded several mixtapes. In 2000, they released their first and only album: Mauvais Œil under the record label 45 Scientific. The album was a success and was quickly recognized as a classic in this music field. The group split in 2002 for unknown reasons; in the meantime Booba signed a contract for his first solo album: Temps Mort, still under 45 Scientific (150 000 copies sold). This album, with the track Destinée (featuring Kayna Samet) aired on several radio stations, and especially on Skyrock, which allowed Booba to be heard by a larger audience. Booba left 45 Scientific to create his own record label: Tallac records. On May 11, 2004, he released his second solo album: Panthéon which became a huge success with tracks such as Numero 10, Avant de partir and Mon Son
In 2004 Booba launched his own clothing line Ünkut. It was featured in an Xbox Live Marketplace downloadable add-on for the Xbox 360 game Saints Row.
In February 2006 Booba contacted the police concerning the kidnapping of his mother and brother.
He worked on a song with Akon called "Gun In My Hand."
The rapper is 1.92m (6ft4in.)
He was recently involved in a well-publicized feud with another well-known rapper in France, Sinik. Like Booba, Sinik is of mixed descent (Algerian and French). The feud, which involved the release of insulting tracks on both sides, was putting a negative spin on the rap genre. [1]
He is going to be in the next 50 cent album which is coming out September 11 but only in the French version. He is going to take one of Tony Yayo verses.
In August 2007, a documentary entitled Flying 101 was released that showcased several Booba instrumentals.
The last album of Booba " 0. 9 " was a commercial defeat (120.000 copies sold) in regard of his previous album Ouest Side sells.
His new mixtape, "Autopsie Volume 3" came out Monday, June 29 2009. The mixtape reached number 1 on the French charts, but it coincided closely with the death of Michael Jackson (3 days before the release), an it quickly dropped to second place behind "Thriller 25th Anniversary"
