Description: In 1989, the Miami hip-hop culture was changing and the fringe of that "next" wave was Afro-Rican. Originally they started out as a DJ crew that went by the name The We-Down Express and it wasn't until 1986 that they took the name Afro-Rican and released a handful of 12 inches that didn't seem to push them in any particular direction. In 1987 they released the classic bass track Doggy Style (Give It All You Got) and finally in 1989 under the direction of Luke Skyywalker (alias Luther Campbell of the 2 Live Crew) they released their first full-length album, Against All Odds. Sadly, the album as a whole failed to appeal to the scene and it was silently swept under the rug. A few years later, they attempted a comeback, but it too fell on deaf ears. If nothing else, their only known track Doggy Style is still one of the dopest, Miami Bass anthems out there today

He is the younger brother of Jalil from the rap group Whodini.Doctor Ice had a stage persona known as the "Debonair Doc".Doctor Ice influenced Hip-Hop dancing to a new form. His influence can be noted by the dance moves in videos done by artists such as Kid N Play, Scrap Lover and Scoop Lover (dancers for Big Daddy Kane) and G-Wiz and the late Trouble T-Roy (from Heavy D & The Boyz). The commercial world fashioned their dance moves after Micheal Jackson but the black community embraced Doc Ice because his dancing was reflective of the type of dance moves done at a house/block party or in the nightclub. He left UTFO in the late 80s before the group's breakup in 1991 to go on a solo career. His first album, The Mic Stalker in 1989, produced by R&B group Full Force, had the singles 'Word To The Wise', 'Love Jones', and 'Sue Me'. Ice also collaborated with Dino (singer), for his 1990 song 'Romeo' (charting at #6) on the album "Swingin'". His second album, "Rely On Self" appeared in 1994
