It was released in May 4, 1999 as a transitional album from Rescue Records to Atlantic Records. Only 30,000 copies were ever made which made it a collecter's item and very rare to find.[citation needed] The EP contains a message from lead singer Sonny Sandoval thanking the 'Warriors', P.O.D.'s following of fans, for supporting them throughout the years before signing with Atlantic Records. Though produced by Atlantic Records, the album was actually released by Tooth & Nail Records. The entire EP is made to sound like the songs are being played through a phonograph, being mixed with a faux vinyl crackling throughout each song. * The song "Draw the Line" was written by the band House of Suffering and originally appeared on the band's 1994 Rescue Records release Snuff the Punk, but was rerecorded for the EP. * The songs "Breathe Babylon" and "Full Color" originally appeared on the band's 1996 Rescue Records release Brown, but were rerecorded for the EP. * The version of "Southtown" on this record is an early and significantly different version than the one on the band's 1999 Atlantic Records release The Fundamental Elements of Southtown * The song "Sabbath" is an instrumental early version of the song "Follow Me" from The Fundamental Elements of Southtown

Sleeping Awake (3:23) Payable on Death is the self- titled studio album and third major label release by Californian metal quartet P.O.D.. This is also their first album to include guitarist Jason Truby. Payable on Death was released on November 4, 2003 through Atlantic. According to Soundscan, it sold a little under 500,000 copies as of January 2006. However, it has shipped over 500,000 copies in the U.S.; therefore, it was certified gold by the RIAA. It has sold over 1,300,000 copies worldwide.
The album's relatively poor sales are partly due to a shakeup at Atlantic Records, leaving P.O.D. with no label support, meaning the only promotion the album got was by word of mouth and online promotion from fans. Having sold 106,000 copies in its first week, the album debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Top 200 chart on the strength of the first single and music video for "Will You". Soon after, the internal problems at Atlantic Records led to the album being virtually given up on.[citation needed] The band filmed a video for the next single, "Change the World", but it was never shipped to MTV. However, it did air on the lesser known Fuse TV.
Payable on Death saw the band head in a more traditional metal sound and away from their well-known Nu metal style which was losing popularity by 2003. Vocalist Sonny Sandoval also utilizes a considerable amount of reggae style singing throughout the album, namely in tracks such as "Change the World", "Execute the Sounds", and "Revolution". The last track, "Eternal", is an instrumental song featuring famed guitarist Phil Keaggy. * "Execute the Sounds" uses the chorus of the Boogie Down Productions song "Stop The Violence" off the 1988 album By All Means Necessary. Black Star also used the same chorus on their song "RE: DEFinition" from their 1998 album Black Star. * The bonus track "Sleeping Awake" was originally featured on the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack released in April 2003. * Bonus content on some albums allowed the download of the track "Space" from a hidden website. * Some albums included a demo version of the Harmonix music game Amplitude. The only song featured on the game is the aforementioned song "Space". * The Deluxe edition of the album comes with a DVD featuring the making of the album. * This is P.O.D.'s shortest album, being eleven seconds shorter than the second shortest Snuff The Punk.

Mark My Words (3:43) Testify is alternative metal band P.O.D.'s sixth studio album and fourth major-label album. It was originally set for a December 2005 release but finally slated for January 24, 2006 by Atlantic Records. This is P.O.D.'s first major-label album not produced by Howard Benson. The full album was leaked to file-sharing networks on January 20, 2006, just four days before its release. It was also their last album with Jason Truby on guitar, before he left the band in December 2006.
This album was also available in the Testify (Limited Edition) version with a bonus CD featuring commentary by the band on every song on the album, as well as 4 bonus songs and a remix that didn't make the album. The album's first single, "Goodbye for Now," went on to become the #1 music video on MTV's TRL and became P.O.D.'s unprecedented 4th #1 video. The song also enjoyed heavy play on the radio. Testify became the #1 selling Christian album on Billboard for several weeks and, as of May 2006, had been in the Top 25 for a total of 16 weeks. It opened at #9 on the Billboard 200 with 58,000 scans[1] and has sold over 210,000 copies in the US and over 496,000 copies worldwide. Musical style and production
Six months prior to meeting their new producer, Glen Ballard, P.O.D. had begun writing and demoing songs for the album. Vocalist Sonny Sandoval described working with Ballard, citing "We didn't even expect him to work on the heavy stuff, just more of the laid-back stuff, but once he heard everything, he wanted to be a part of it." The ambitious Ballard also included elements such as his own piano work.
Whereas Payable on Death shifted away from the nu metal style P.O.D. had previously established, Testify saw its return in tracks like "Lights Out" and "Sounds Like War." "On the Grind" particularly focuses on hip hop. Other songs rely on more formal singing, as heard in "Goodbye for Now" and "This Time," and reggae singing, namely those featuring Matisyahu.
Said bassist Traa Daniels, "This album defines who we are musically as a foursome more than any other album that we've ever done." He added, "What we tried to do on this album. . . was to take people on a journey musically. . . I think we have a lot of different elements." Sonny Sandoval also noted, "We have one of the heaviest songs we ever wrote and one of the softest songs we ever wrote."[2]
[edit] Critical reception
Upon release, Testify was met with mixed reception from major music publications. Jason Bracelin of Blender proclaimed, "on their fifth disc, these 'jah soldiers' run low on ammo" and elaborated that "on the ska-tinged 'Strength of My Life,' they sound like the world’s most polite rude boys, while 'Goodbye for Now' is the kind of listless modern rock that could be bottled and sold as a sleep aid." Rolling Stone's Christian Hoard similarly noted "Testify is not as pompous or overblown as you might think; it just feels tired. . . The most notable aspect of Testify, in fact, is how little P.O.D., or their guitars, have to say."
Allmusic's Matt Collar, however, gave the album 4/5 rating and considered guitarist Jason Truby's work a "truly inspired and technically brilliant performance." He also commended Sandoval's enthusiastic vocals regarded the album as representing "a band reborn." download

Despite placing in the top ten of the Billboard 200 the album has been considered a flop and P.O.D.'s future with INO records in uncertain. Performances

They also revealed the title of their new album to be When Angels & Serpents Dance.
On August 4, 2007 the band played at Angel Stadium of Anaheim's annual Harvest Crusade where they revealed a new song entitled "I'll Be Ready" for a crowd of 42,000, the largest number in attendance for the three day event.[5]
[edit] Cover artwork
On December 1st, P.O.D. posted a blog on their MySpace that they had set up a "secret" website to reveal pieces of the cover to the public from December 3rd - December 10th. P.O.D. also posted the lyrics to one of their songs on the "secret" website. They are as follows: "One must lead in the dance. Who's leading you? Life is real when angels and serpents dance."
In the early morning of December 10, 2007, in addition to the unveiling of the final pieces of the album cover, it was officially announced on P.O.D.'s "secret website" that "When Angels & Serpents Dance" would be released on April 8, 2008. download
